Riding for a Cause

Posted

Last week, many Manchester residents may have heard the extended rumbling sounds of 120 motorcycles snaking their way through downtown.  What they may not have known is this was the American Legion Riders Post 113’s annual Cape Ann ride to benefit the Operation Troop Support that regularly packs and sends care packages of needed items to troops deployed around the world to give them the comforts of home.

Motorcyclists came from as far as New Hampshire and Worcester to register for the daylong event that started with breakfast at the Legion (see the sea of bikes in front of the Legion above) and, after the ride, ended with an afternoon of food and music.

Legion Commander Allan Kirker, who was onhand for the event, said the effort brings much needed support to veterans.
