Leslie Beatty for Library Trustee

Posted

To the Editor,

I am enthusiastically endorsing Leslie Beatty for Library Trustee and ask that you please do the same. Leslie earned a Master’s Degree in Information Science that opened doors to research and writing jobs, and later, to a 15- year career as a junior high school librarian and advisor at a private school in Dallas. Leslie, her husband, Rob, and three children lived there for 36 years. Since moving to Manchester almost 15 years ago, she has been a regular volunteer at the Manchester Public Library.
Leslie is a community volunteer extraordinaire, having served as an officer on the MBTS Museum Board and alternated the leadership position of the reinvigorated Manchester Welcoming Committee, both for five years, is a current member of the Manchester Garden Club, is a docent at the Cape Ann Museum and, along with her husband, a volunteer at the Open Door. These experiences created opportunities for Leslie to meet so many of you and garner new talents.
Leslie’s library experience and knowledge would be extremely helpful with current and future library plans. She believes that the primary goal of a library trustee is to ensure that people of all ages are well-served and able to take part in its activities. She thinks it is important that the library continues to expand not just its footprint but also its resources to help those in our town who cannot get to the library and/or take advantage of learning new skills. Libraries are one of the most important assets in any community and are a vital presence in thriving societies.
Having served alongside Leslie at the museum, I can attest to her strong skills, team player work ethic, excellent communication skills, and positive attitude. I am confident that Leslie would be a remarkable library trustee.
