Dru Tarr Won’t Debate Me.  He should

Posted

To the Editor,

I have repeatedly asked Representative Dru Tarr to debate me.

So far, no debate has been agreed to.

If Representative Tarr wanted to debate, there are plenty of ways to make it happen.  We could meet at a local venue, appear together before a civic organization, or even debate by Zoom.

Today I also went to his published Manchester constituent-service hours at First Parish Hall.  Neither Representative Tarr nor a member of his staff was there.

His office publicly lists those Manchester hours for the third Monday of each month (https://www.facebook.com/share/1EkX4yJJMG/).  I have repeatedly asked Representative Dru Tarr to debate me.  So far, no debate has been agreed to.

At this point, it appears Representative Tarr does not want to debate.

That matters.  A debate gives Cape Ann voters the opportunity to hear both candidates answer the same questions and defend their records including Representative Tarr’s votes on Beacon Hill.

If Dru wants to debate, I am making it easy:  choose the place, choose the format, and choose the date.

I’ll be there.
