To the Editor,
Although I am sure there are some reputable auto dealerships, is the Governor and the State just a typical example of a sleazy dealership-like business?
Most have all been there in that dealership office where they are throwing in free oil changes for life, and/or free undercoating, the expensive trim, or leather seats, et cetera if we would just simply sign the contract. At least, even in the most untrustworthy dealerships, you get to see the actual costs for that car. However, in the case of signing that contract accepting the 3A/MBTA Mandate, we don’t even know the final cost.
Sure, some towns put together a very questionable, inaccurate costs benefits analysis favoring a 3A acceptance, but they usually use unrealistic assumptions. They really do not fully examine and take into account the realistic yearly increases in expenses for the schools, town services and infrastructure expansions. Nor do they take into account the formidable pressure the State is applying to recklessly build. So why would any town sign a contract when they really don’t know the final costs or at least without an unbiased analysis of the final costs? So why would any responsible citizen allow a town to sign that contract?
That is the dilemma many towns & residents are facing right now! Personally, and right or wrong, I prudently need to know the realistic cost of anything before I sign that contract. How about you? Please don’t let the State’s sleazy dealership-like business deceive you or your town. At least at this time, I strongly suggest that you reject any contract accepting the 3A/MBTA Mandate.
