Friends of Memorial Park Improvement Project Needs You

The Friends of Memorial Park Improvement Project, Inc. (FOMPIP) formed as a non-profit organization in 2018 with the goal of improving the Annie Gosbee Field (baseball) and building the Veterans Memorial Patio at Memorial Park. Thanks to the team effort of many donors from our communities, along with our Board, and the Essex DPW, the project was a wonderful success.  Several years ago, our board was approached by a group of Essex community members interested in repairing the tennis courts behind the field.  They raised funds and asked to be under the umbrella of FOMPIP’s organization.  We were delighted to be able to be a part of this exciting project, but the time has come to step aside and give the reins to the people and town of Essex.

This letter is to inform the community that on Monday, June 9, the Essex Select Board voted to accept FOMPIP’s $56,250.00 donation to have Essex Town Administrator, Brendhan Zubricki, enter into a contract with Weston and Sampson Engineering to conduct the required site engineering at the current tennis court location.  Sarah Willwerth-Dyer and Michael Stroman have put together an ad-hoc committee from Essex who will now be helping facilitate grants, donations, and other means of financing the repairs and upgrades.

Like the improvements to Annie Gosbee Field and the Veterans Memorial Patio, we anticipate this project to be a great sense of pride for the Town of Essex.  On behalf of the FOMPIP Board, we wish the new team all the best.
