Mary-Lou O’Brien, 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, and is now reunited in spirit with her beloved husband Carl.
She grew up in Manchester-by-the-Sea and was the daughter of Emory N. and Marion (Bullock) Eaton. Mary-Lou was a graduate of both Story High School and Burdett Secretarial School and pursued her career as a Legal Secretary in Boston, however, music was her true passion.
Mary-Lou was a highly sought after contralto soloist and piano player and was a dedicated member of The First Parish Church Choir, Tabernacle Choir (Salem, MA), The Harmonettes, The Manchester Singers, The Paul Madore Chorale and The Manchester Women’s Club.
Mary-Lou was a cherished wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mary-Lou is survived by her daughter and long-time care provider Kimberly O’Brien of Manchester-by-the Sea and her three sons, A. Jeffrey and wife Debra of Wiscasset, ME; Ross O’Brien and wife Carol of Medford and Eric O’Brien of Manchester-by-the-Sea; as well as her grandchildren Andrew O’Brien and wife Sarah of S. Hamilton, Christiana Sigourney and husband Matthew of Medford, Erin O’Brien of Wiscasset, ME and Kristina Andrews and husband Jonathan of Medford, and her great grandchildren Soren and Alesana Sigourney and Connor O’Brien, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her graveside funeral service will be held at Rosedale Extension Cemetery, Manchester-by-the-Sea on October 8th at 9AM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10AM at First Parish Church Congregational, 10 Central Street, Manchester-by-the-Sea. Relatives and friends are in-vited to attend.
