It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lynda (Pitts) Griffiths on November 10, 2024. She was born in 1944 in Madill, Oklahoma and moved around through several states over the course of her childhood and early adult years, finding her home in Manchester-by-the-Sea, a town she adored, in 1975.
She leaves behind many loved ones including two daughters, Julia
Griffiths of Amesbury, MA and partner, Rich, and Katie (
Griffiths) Lillie and husband, Michael, of Acton, MA; also her brother, Larry, and wife Tawney of Kirland, WA, and her beloved lifelong companion, best friend, and sister, Phyllis Pitts, who lived in the apartment beneath her. Her greatest source of joy came from her grandchildren, William and wife Christina, Hillary and husband Nick, Ruby, Miller, and Darcy; as well as her great grandchildren, Madeline and Penelope. An active member of her church, she loved a good day of shopping, pecan pie, and the dazzle of a sparkly sequin or two. She instilled in us an appreciation for all things beautiful, often reminding her daughters as children that some people go their entire lives without seeing the ocean or snow falling from the sky. In lieu of flowers we ask that you consider donating to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in her memory at
www.themmrf.org.
Join us to celebrate her life on Wednesday, November 27th at 11am at the First Parish Church in Manchester, followed by a reception. If you’re unable to be with us in person, raise a glass or treat yourself to something special in her honor that day.
