Dionne for State Treasurer & Falcetano for Governor’s Council:  Bringing a two-party democracy back to Massachusetts

Posted

To the Editor,

Energetic and razor-sharp attorney with sound fiscal experience, as our new State Treasurer.

Elizabeth Dionne is a common-sense Republican and former chair of the Belmont (MA) Select Board. This Stanford University-trained attorney delivered a balanced budget to Belmont’s citizens, without using reserve funds, while also successfully reforming the town’s financial operations. She, unlike many current state officials, is a strong supporter of implementing the audit of the state legislature, a bill passed in 2024 by 71.6% of the state’s voters. (https://votedionne.com/)

Dionne’s Democrat opponent, incumbent state treasurer, Deborah Goldberg, heiress to the Stop and Shop fortune, and part-time Florida resident, continues to refuse to debate Dionne on any statewide media, despite Dionne’s repeated requests for such a forum. Governor’s Council?  This year we also have a chance to elect William Falcetano to the Governor’s Council. This eight-person board, representing eight geographic districts within the state, has the responsibility to advise and review the governor’s judicial nominations and parole board members...dealing with pardons and commutations.

Falcetano, a retired philosophy professor from Gloucester, and a former Democrat like myself, is concerned that all current Council’s members are Democrats. He is running for this office to help strengthen the Council’s decision-making  by creating a  TWO-party advisory council for the governor.  Democracy requires a variety of voices in order to represent all of the people.

Please help bring a thoughtful TWO-party democracy to Massachusetts.   Please vote for Elizabeth Dionne for State Treasurer and Bill Falcetano for Governor’s Council on Tuesday, November 3rd.
