Community Support Keeps Essex Moving Forward

Posted

To the Editor,

Once again, you, the people of Essex, have stepped up to show your commitment to our town by voting "yes" to fund the town and school budget.  These votes represent our love and respect for this idyllic town and for our neighbors.  We know this can be exhausting year after year, so we appreciate all of you for staying engaged.

Thank you to Alva for her three years of service on the Essex Board of Selectmen and her prior years of service to the town.  Thank you to Dexter for stepping up and good luck!

Later this year we will be voting on the next step of funding for the Essex Elementary School project.  This is the final step in the school district's plan to replace all three school buildings.  An improved Essex Elementary is where we truly get the return on the whole of our investment across these many years.  Healthy public schools require the support and engagement of their communities.  We encourage all residents to stay actively engaged in the MSBA building process.  The new elementary school will be an incredible asset for all of us.

Beyond that, there are lots of ways to get involved in Essex.  Attending a meeting, volunteering for a town committee, or simply introducing yourself to a neighbor are all positive steps. Together we can continue to sustain our community, build on our many strengths and address the challenges that face us in the 21st century.
