Anthony (94), born Mother’s Day May 10, 1931, died on Father’s Day, June 15, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Media, PA, he was the son of Anne Elizabeth Lumley and Anthony N. Bullock Jr.
A graduate of St. James High School for Boys in Chester, PA. Tony went on to study at Villanova University earning an Economics Degree, in 1953. While at Villanova he was a member of the Officers Naval Reserve Training Corps, and that is where he met the “love of his life” Lorraine and the start of a courtship that blossomed into a marriage of 71 years and six children … Their early years started in Cheyney, PA, then off to Philadelphia, PA, Fairfield, CT, Newburgh, NY, Dallas, TX, Lakewood, OH, Marblehead, MA, and finally settling in Manchester-by-the-Sea where they have resided for the past 57 years.
After leaving the Navy in 1955 (remaining in Navy Reserves until 1966), he started his sales and technical development career, in the publishing field with Dupont. His career continued with Latex Fiber Industries, and Boise Cascade where he traveled the country, as a national publishing accounts manager. He was a member of the Book Builders of Boston, Bookbinder Guild of New York, Book Manufacturers Institute and the Advisory Council on Textbook Specifications. After 38 years he hung up his traveling shoes and worked part time for Carlson Real Estate, as he eased into retirement.
During his high school years, where he spent summers working at Glen Mills Quarry, Tony learned the benefit of hard work and cultivated a passion for building stone walls. This passion is seen on display at their home on Hidden Ledge Road with countless stonewalls that terrace the property.
Tony was active in many community associations, including the Knights of Columbus, Community Center, Meals on Wheels and Bootstraps. As a member of Knights of Columbus since 1956, when it was raffle time you would find him selling tickets door to door. Over the years of lifelong friendships, he spent many enjoyable afternoon lunches with the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out).
His competitive nature and athleticism (playing tennis into his seventies), was passed down to his children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. For decades you would always find Tony and Lorraine at sporting, recitals and school events, where they continued to be the Hornet’s #1 Fan, even after their immediate family was no longer on the roster.
Predeceased by his wife Lorraine, his daughter Susan, (husband) Stephen Brenan; his sister Joan, (husband) Charlie McShane; and his brother in-laws Edward Auwaerter, (wife) Lila and Fredrick Auwaerter, (wife) Jean. He leaves behind his Children: Lorraine Schulte, (husband) Buzz, Marianne Coons, (husband) Loren, Deborah Brosch, Anthony IV, (wife) Kendra, Dee Wright, (husband) Doug; Grandchildren (16): Stephen, Elizabeth, Whitney, Charlie, Ben, Skylar, Taylor, Hunter, Anneliese, Nicole, Chris, Chanel, Christina, Alix, Ryan, Peter; Great-grandchildren (12): Odessa, Arden, Paxton, Kaelin, Lochlan, Finnegan, Rowan, Grace, Celia, Lily, Lucy, Helia and numerous nieces and nephews.
