October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and HAWC (“Healing Abuse Working for Change” kicked it off on October 3 with its annual Breakfast to Heal. During the event, HAWC Executive Director Sara Stanley presented their Community Partner Award to Beverly, MA-based The Women’s Fund of Essex County.
The award recognizes an organization whose exceptional dedication and impact have significantly advanced the cause of ending abuse and supporting survivors in the community.
Stanley said that Women's Fund of Essex County and its Co-Chairs Trish Moore and Wendy Roworth have, "demonstrated unwavering commitment, remarkable leadership, and tangible results in fostering a safer and more supportive environment for all." The Women’s Fund of Essex County connects the community – individuals, businesses, foundations and others – to local non-profits who support the well-being and achievement of women and girls. Over the past 20 years, The Women’s Fund has provided $3.2 million in grants to more than 150 organizations across Essex County. Moore said, “This award is not for us, but for all the donors who help the Women’s Fund complete its mission to provide financial support Essex County nonprofits that improve the lives of women and girls. HAWC plays a vital role in these efforts and The Women’s Fund is happy to support their work. We are overjoyed and humbled at receiving their Community Partner Award.”
HAWC provides services to survivors of domestic abuse residing in 23 cities and towns on Massachusetts’ North Shore in order that they may make informed, independent decisions about their futures.
The Women’s Fund of Essex County will be celebrating its 2024 Grantees on Thursday, October 17 at its Grantee Celebration Breakfast, in Danvers at Danversport, from 7:30-9 a.m.
