One would imagine the September of a big election year is not the best time for a new Town Clerk. Typically, it’s not.
In this way, Manchester is very fortunate, as last week the town officially welcomed Christine Dixon as its new Town Clerk. Dixon is filling the position vacated by Dianne Bucco, who left Manchester to serve the same role in her hometown of Wenham.
Dixon, who has known Bucco professionally for years, is both a veteran town clerk and someone with strong local ties. Christina worked in town way back in 2013 at Essen (now the Laughing Gull Cafe) and at Manchester by the Book after she graduated from Gordon College. So she loves this area. Professionally, Dixon brings strong experience to Manchester. She served for four years in the Town Clerk’s office in Amesbury and for the last five years, Dixon has been the Assistant Town Clerk for the City of Beverly, which has given her exposure to bigger systems and bigger challenges.
One of Dixon’s first orders of business has been to tackle the 2024 election logistics, which includes early voting that will begin in several weeks and continue through Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5th.
Dixon lives in Beverly with her husband, who works in communications at the Berklee College of Music.
